What Didier Drogba Did In His Home Country Ivory Coast Is So Honourable

Ivorian footballer Didier Drogba has given back to his country by opening a school that will help no fewer than 350 children in the rural cocoa growing community of Pokou-Kouamekro to gain quality education.

Speaking at the launch, Drogba said the foundation began working on the project two years ago. ” I am very proud to see it completed”, he said.

He also told the pupils to make him proud. “The belief of my foundation has always been if we give children access to health and education, we will build future generations of doctors, scientists, businessmen and women and that is how we build a better Africa”.

This Herdsmen have gone Haywire, They have gone violent thereby engaging in gruesome murder of killings, Killing farmers in gruesome ways and even extended into wider areas.

"They are bound to be a Terrorist group"some say.
"The Government is not doing anything" some said.
and Finally they said "lets not eat meat and mourn". I believe this is a way to  serve punishment to the business of the Herdsmen.


This leaves the Question, Would you Agree not to eat meat sincerely?

Gani Adams begins rites to become Aare Ona Kakanfo

The national coordinator of Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams, yesterday arrived in Oyo town to begin a three-day traditional rites heralding his installation as the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland.

The OPC leader, who arrived at the ancient town around 5:20p.m. went straight to the residence of the chairman of the Planning Committee, Bishop Ayo Ladigbolu, where some leaders had been waiting for him.

Speaking with journalists before being led to a sacred place where he would be in seclusion to observe the traditional rites for three days, Adams said he was spiritually and mentally prepared for the task.

He said: “There is nothing to worry about, this is not the first I will be performing traditional rites, it’s part of our culture and anybody aspiring to hold any position of authority in Yorubaland must perform it. I won’t miss anything while at the seclusion, I will have more knowledge, understanding and related history about my new position.”

Bishop Ladigbolu while receiving Gani Adams said the rite is necessary because it is part of the steps to be taken for the official coronation. He also hinted that they are fully prepared for the official coronation on Saturday.

He added that the Aare Ona Kakanfo-designate is not expected to see the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, until the coronation say on Saturday.

Panic in Bayelsa town over alleged killing of four soldiers

Fear of reprisal has gripped Ndoro community in Bayelsa State, following the killing of four soldiers and another security personnel.

Fleeing residents of the community lamented that troops and military hardware were being deployed in Ekeremor local council area to hunt for those behind the crime.

Sources said a militant leader called Kareowei and his gang murdered the soldiers during a shoot out in the creeks.

Kareowei was also recently linked with the kidnapping of four Christian missionaries at Enekorogha community in Burutu local council area of Delta State.

The gang was also said to be behind the increased piracy and attacks of firms in the riverine areas.

Their exploits include last year’s attacks in Ogbobagbene, in which a soldier was killed and a general-purpose machine gun carted away.

The kidnap kingpin is also believed to have masterminded the abduction in October 2017 of Madam Ekpongbolo Preyor.

The abducted woman is the mother of a lawmaker representing Bomadi Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Kenneth Oboro Preyor.

The Commander of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Bomadi Division, Capt. Jimoh Abdul, declined to speak about the tensed situation in the area.

He said: “I’m in a very difficult terrain right now. Call 222 Battalion if you want any information. Or call the task force units for details. I do not have the authority to speak on anything right now.”

But the Pere of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom, Pere Kalanama Viii, cautioned the military to carryout their operation with professionalism.

While condemning the killing of the soldiers, he appealed to them not to harm innocent people. The Delta State Chairman, Phase 2 of the Amnesty Programme, Kingsley Muturu, also condemned the killings.

“We want peace to reign to allow development to take place in the Niger Delta region,” he said. Meanwhile, a group in Warri North Local Council has condemned alleged military invasion in Egbema kingdom.

The group, called Concerned Citizens of Polobubou (Tsekelewu) Communities (CCPC) said they would not succumb to intimidation under any guise.

FUNKE AKINDELE SET TO PLAY A ROLE IN THE UPCOMING 2018 SUPER HERO MOVIE "AVENGERS:INFINITY WAR"

Nigerian actress Funke Akindele-Bello has been listed as a member of the cast of upcoming 2018 superhero movie Avengers: Infinity War and its has brought about lots of excitement all over.

Her name has appeared so far on the cast list on IMDb, a popular source for movie content, and Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as a Dora Milaje Member. (See screenshots below.) She will feature alongside top Hollywood actors from Don Cheadle and Chris Pratt to Scarlett Johansson. This makes it the first time a Nigerian-born actor will feature in a Hollywood superhero movie.

Based on the Marvel Comics superhero Avengers team, the movie is a sequel to The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultronand a crossover between/sequel to Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther.

This means that it is expected to be ten times more action than one normal movie, since the whole Marvel Comic Universe will all be fighting one major supervillain, Thanos, in one movie together in a plot revolving around the Infinity Gauntlet and the six Infinity Stones

Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, saw the filmmakers feature Lagos in a fighting scene where some Marvel superheroes engaged themselves in battle.

Avengers: Infinity War, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, will be released on May 4, 2018, making it the 19th main instalment in the MCU. The sequel, Avengers 4, is set for release on May 3, 2019.

Presently in Nigeria today, the habits of Gambling embarked by the people in Society  is a trending Factor .

In society , there has been  known cases of Gambling addicts. Although this menance is not just entitled to the youths only as even Adults are known to engage in this. Gambling is the General word for this habits as it has been broken down into Sports bet, lottos, physical Bets and all.

    Statistics shows that  79% of Nigerian youths are sports betting fanatics with the game of football  betting taking a lead. It has become more like a HOUSE HOLD FACTOR.

Every corner of the street you go to is overcrowded with young guys and sometimes even ladies engaging themselves in a Bet house. The passion for this bets is overwhelming.

 Its been said that this Habit of Gambling(football bets,lottos and etc) has brought about some positive advantages to society,in the fact that it has enabled some youths earned some money for themselves since there are no consistent jobs and  even bets houses employing employing a large number of youths. Also claims of how this bets has yielded positive gains from doubling amounts of money, even lottery visas  through lottos helping people travel overseas.

Although this advantages are factual to an extent  but it is a problem to society when the disadvantages to a factor is more is more than the Advantages.

  The major Disavantages to his Habit of Gambling is its addictive nature. People have lost and sold of properties, taken loans and eventually run into debt because of Gambling.

Another Disadvantage of Gambling is that some of these youths depend solely on gambling related activities which promotes laziness within them as they do not want to work believing that gambling is a more effective way of earning a living.

Thirdly it promotes Stealing. A serious addict will do anything to gamble as one who does not have money can go an extra mile of stealing to place bets. Young kids are not left out in this as lots of them use money given to them by parents for upkeep to play video games and even place bets in bet houses.

Though There are much more disdavantages to Gambling but these three factors are enough reasons for  you to know that there  are much more negative impacts than the positive ones to Gambling.

This Article is not trying to despise persons who found theirselves in situations listed above but rather it is meant to put a check to it and thereby opening our minds to a broader view of it.

CHILD LABOUR: A BAD MENANCE IN TODAY'S SOCIETY

Child right is very important in every society and in this article  i would be giving an insight into child labour in society.
A major Factor which causes Child Labour is Poverty which leads to parents giving up their rights and responsibilities to their Children.
Its very unfortunate every area in society(African Scene) you see little kids engaging in hard labour fit for Adults.
On every corner of the streets,you see kids begging,engaging in menial jobs and being in desperate situation.
In a personal Experience i had, i saw little kids of about ages 4-7 engaging in serious hard labour in an Automobile workshop.It was a Sad touching sight as i had to engage them and ask them how come they found thierselves in that delicate situation. They told me their parents gave them up for labour to the Automobile workshop. It was a touching sad tale.
Like i said earlier, Poverty is a major factor in Child labour and most parents are instrumental to the fast growth of Child labour
    The Government should please step up and provide adequate solutions to get this kids of the street as this leaves a Negative image for our Society(Nigerian scene). Its being ascertained that provisions are being made. Agreed! But more can be done.
    NGO'S and Foundations should also help out too if capable.
Lets Join hands and save a child Today.
A child saved today can turnout magnificient tommorow.

SORRID SAD STORY AS FAMILY OF FIVE WERE INVOLVEED IN A GHASTLY MOTOR ACCIDENT

This Photos were shared by a Facebook user/pastor who claimed he was an eye witness to the event and was even instrumental to the rescue.

The source claimed while embarking on a journey to Benin city, This Red Suv(photo) suddenly lost  a back tire and summersaulted severally till it stopped. It was later discovered that the occupants were a family of Five consisting of a father, mother and three kids(two boys and a girl). only the Girl escaped unhurt while the father was said to have died on the accident scene.

The most touching/annoying part of the story was the fact that rescue and aid failed to come in time as several persons who stopped to witness the scene bluntly refused to help out with the rescue and instead where taking pictures of the events at the detriment of human lives..

Only the Source who shared story/photos helped out with the rescue. He was the one who solely solicited for aid and later after about some time conveyed the victims to the Hospital with the Help of the federal road safety corps.

It was ascertained on getting to the hospital the mother(victim) was almost at the point of death. Doctors claimed that the two boys would have gone too if they had exceeded being at the hospital at that time. The little girl was the only one unhurt while the Dad was confirmed Dead.

God Rests His soul.

As for those people who couldn't help out at the scene,They shouldnt forget that life is in a Round Form.

VETERAN/COMIC NOLLYWOOD ACTOR JOHN OKAFOR AKA MR IBU ROBBED

John Okafor popularly known as Mr Ibu was robbed at his Lagos Residence in Ikate area. The Armed robbers carted away with the sum of One million Naira, 12 expensive wristwatches and other valuable items. In an exclusive interview with an online media,the actor said he was at Enugu the day the incident happened which was the 4th of January,2018.

According to him, He said  '‘My wife, children and in-law were sleeping when the robbers attacked. According to my wife, they came in around 3am. They broke the doors and gained entrance inside the house. They were asking where is Mr Ibu. Maybe they planned to come and kill me but I was not there. They carted away N1 million cash that was meant for renovations being done in my house, my expensive watches. Four out of the 12 watches that were stolen cost N8 million because they were N2 million each gold watches that somebody bought for me.The others were N500,000, N400,000 N300, 000 watches. I love big watches. My wife’s gold and other jewelries were also stolen. They also stole four phones that I left in the house. Thankfully, they did not injure anyone of them”

Furthermore, he said some arrests have been made:

‘Some arrests have been made. Coincidentally, my name who had installed CCTV caught the face of two of the robbers and among those that have been arrested, two of the suspects are in there” he said finally

CAF Awards: Shatta Wale Will Keep His $30,000 Advance Payment Despite Not Performing

The CAF (Confederation of African Football) awards which held at the Accra International Center, Ghana on Thursday came under heavy criticism because the show’s music performance was dominated by Nigerians while Ghanaian musicians were literally missing.

Ghanaian acts, Shatta Wale and Kidi were the two artistes billed to perform at the awards but Shatta failed to perform.

In an interview on Zylophone FM, a radio station in Ghana, Shatta said that an unknown person called him and informed him that he was going to perform at the CAF Awards. Strangely, he wasn’t given any contract to sign and only $30,000 was given to him. This amount, he said, is a far outcry from what he was given at the 2016 CAF awards. He also said that he has taken the money to be a gift.

Ghanaian Afro-soul singer, Efya sang the national anthem while Kidi performed when guests were leaving the venue.

Meanwhile, AITEO, the sponsors of the awards, has tendered an apology for the act.

We start, in the first and primary instant, by apologizing for non-outing of Ghana music star Shatta Wale at the event.

This omission, contrary to some reported media accounts, was not deliberate. Far from it. Shatta is an artiste whose work and reputation we continue to hold in the exalted heights that he has attained. It is this appreciation that to led to his inclusion amongst those listed to perform. That this did not happen did not occur through any actions on the part of the organisers. As sponsors charged with the implementation of various parts of the arrangements on the day, we take responsibility for the omission and offer our unreserved apologies to the Government and good people of Ghana. We are, nevertheless, able to confirm that every arrangement was made for Shatta Wale to appear and perform at the event. Constraints beyond our control caused an enforced departure from that scheduling. The circumstances that brought about this situation are deeply regretted.

It is indisputable that we, as a company, hold His Excellency, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo and the Government and good people of Ghana in the highest esteem. 92-year-old to run as Prime Minister in Malaysia

Malaysia’s opposition coalition on Sunday named 92-year old former premier Mahathir Mohamad as its prime ministerial candidate for a general election that must be called by August.

With the country’s most popular opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim in jail, Mahathir is seen as the biggest threat for 64 year-old Prime Minister Najib Razak, who is engulfed in a corruption scandal.

Mahathir, who earned a reputation during his 22-year tenure as prime minister of being a no-nonsense authoritarian with little time for dissenters promoting liberal values, stands to become the world’s oldest leader if the opposition wins.

A victory could also potentially pave the way for former Mahathir foe Anwar to become the prime minister. Mahathir and Anwar’s wife Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will be the Pakatan Harapan coalition’s candidates for the premier and deputy prime ministerial posts respectively, secretary general Saifuddin Abdullah said at the alliance’s convention. If the opposition wins, the component parties have agreed to immediately commence legal processes to obtain a royal pardon for Anwar, Saifuddin said.

“…So that Anwar could immediately play a role in the federal government and subsequently be proposed as a candidate for the eighth prime minister,” he said.

The Mahathir-Anwar coalition and their endorsement of each other is a turnaround from their bitter feud that has shaped Malaysia’s political landscape for nearly two decades.Anwar was once a protege of Mahathir, and the rising star of Malaysian politics, but they had a falling-out in the late 1990s..

Man flees kidnappers’ den after two weeks

A 47-year-old man, Philips Emekudu, resident of Okpanam community near Asaba in Delta State, on Thursday evening escaped from his abductors after two weeks in his kidnappers’ den.

It was gathered that the victim was on his way to his house on the day he was kidnapped in his Lexus 350 SUV along Okpanam road, when a six-man gang of suspected kidnappers swooped on him close to a popular hotel, and forced him into the car before they zoomed off to an unknown destination.

The victim while narrating his ordeal to journalists yesterday, said: “They took me away to a bush where I was kept for two weeks without good food until I was assisted to escape by one of them who claimed I assisted him some years back.”

It would be recalled that the Delta State Police Command had launched a search for the whereabouts of the victim before the kidnappers established contact with his relations.

Also, in Ibusa, near Asaba, two suspected kidnappers were arrested by the police after they had lured their victim through social media to the town.

The victim, who was invited by the suspects from Owerri in Imo State to Ibusa on Facebook, was kidnapped and dragged into the bush by the suspects, and later demanded a ransom of N200,000 from the victim’s relations before they were arrested.

Mr. Andrew Aniamaka, police spokesman in the state confirmed that the suspects were currently undergoing investigation and they will be charged to court on completion of investigation.

Meanwhile, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) attached to the state command, Asaba, yesterday arrested three suspected car robbery suspects at the residence of a 52-year-old widow (name withheld) around Infant Jesus road, Asaba.

Aniamaka, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects, disclosed that the police acted on intelligence, adding that the suspects upon interrogation, confessed to the crime and took them to Agbor where they recovered 13 vehicles.

The suspects, whose names were given as Kayode Fredrick, Nnamdi Kenneth, and Boniface Iwuobi, are being retained for
further investigation.

Suspected ‘murderer’ arrested in Benin

The police in Edo State have confirmed the arrest of a suspected murderer whose motive behind the crime is yet to be ascertained.

But commercial motorcyclists known as Okada riders operating in Egor local government and youths of the community had protested against the presence of a suspected den for rituals at a forest located in a boundary between Ogheghe and Egbaen villages.

The okada riders set up barricades on the road after the body of their colleague was found in the bush. They claimed that other okada riders have disappeared in similar circumstances.

They were said to have identified a suspect, who hired the dead colleague two days earlier, when the suspect requested the services of another okada rider. The okada riders followed the suspect and cornered him when he attempted to divert the rider into the bush.

The Guardian gathered that the okada riders and youths accosted the suspect and beat him up, which made him to allegedly confess to the crime. He was said to have taken the mob to where he dumped the body and named other accomplices including a traditional birth attendant that use to buy the body parts.
  
Some witnesses claimed that the bush was filled with dead bodies and clothing belonging to victims, especially women and children.

One of the witnesses said he had earlier rescued a man tied inside the bush. He said he saw two fresh bodies, decomposing ones and human skeletons when he joined a search party into the bush.
 
A bike rider who pleaded anonymity said they decided to comb the bush following several incidents of missing persons in the area.

“Our people are missing everyday. On Saturday, we entered the bush and found the body of a man that was missing four days ago. The man we caught has killed many people inside that bush.
 
But the Commissioner of Police, Babatunde Kokumo, said the suspect was arrested in connection with murder and not ritual killing. Kokumo explained that the suspect would have been lynched if the police had not acted swiftly.  “There is nothing like mass killing in Egor. No bodies have been seen. The police arrested a suspect for murder and we are doing investigation.”

Tragedy as Four teenage girls drown in Jigawa pond

Four girls reportedly drawned in a pond while searching for firewood.

The incident occurred ‎in the afternoon when the little girls attempted to swim across a stagnant pond at Farantama district under Albasu local government of Kano state.

The girls‎, Sumayya Gadi, 7, Zuwaira Abdulhamidu, 12 , Ummi Sa’adu, 11, and Gaji Sa’adu, 12, respectively, were said to have been sent on errand by their parents to fetch firewood from the neighbouring bushes when news broke to members of the village that their wards were killed.

The incident, which have thrown the members of the community ‎into shock and mourning, has also generated debate on the root cause of the victims death.

Although all the victims corpses have been recovered and buried immediately in accordance with Islamic rite, some members of the community could not hide their reservations that the death may have been as a result of ‘probable’ course.

The police public relations officer SP Abdul Jinjiri who confirmed the incidence said four girls were first recovered by their parents and immediately buried them ‎therefore no any autopsy was conducted on them. He however stated that from their preliminary investigation and report from their parents the girls were said to have died as a result of drawning.

Meanwhile, the Confederation of Africa Football has apologized to Ghanaian for Shatta Wale’s inability to perform at the just ended Aiteo CAF Awards 2017 and have pledged to investigate the unpardonable blunder.

The Aiteo CAF Awards 2017 was held in Ghana on Thursday 4th January 2018 with seven Nigerian artists, Ivorians and Togolese performing at the event with no single Ghanaian taking to the floor, despite boasting of many top music stars like Shatta Wale, Sarkodie, Ebony and many more.

The unpardonable demonstration demeaning Ghanaian music nearly took away the shine from the awards when Ghanaians lashed CAF on social media for looking down upon the Ghanaian music industry.

But the President of CAF Dr. Ahmad has rendered an unreserved apology to all Ghanaians for the unfortunate incident pledging to dig deeper to find out why Shatta Wale couldn’t perform despite being tabled for a show.

“We had agreed with them (Aiteo, sponsors of the event), in pursuit of continental spread of the performers, to ensure a regional balance and a strong local representation of at least two musicians from the host nation Ghana – Kidi and Shatta Wale,” Dr. Ahmad told CAFonliune.

“We take full responsibility for the absence of the Ghanaian musicians on last night’s event and apologise unreservedly for the mishap.

“There is also the need for an explanation from AITEO on why the the host nation’s musicians could not perform as we seek to make next year’s event more successful,” he added.

President Buhari Expresses Deep Regrets Over Benue Attacks

President Muhammadu Buhari has described the attack on some Benue communities, where more than 50 people were killed, by suspected herdsmen, as criminal and painful.

The president stated this, yesterday, during a condolence visit to Governor Samuel Ortom, at Government House, Makurdi.

He expressed sadness over the incident. 

“We feel your pain, especially our mothers, who bore us in their wombs. Government will not sit down and watch people being killed and their property destroyed. Anyone found wanting deserves maximum punishment,” he said.

Represented by the Minister of Interior, Lt. General Abdulrahman Dambazzau, Buhari advised Nigerians against politicising the killings and noted that many people are already cashing on it for selfish political reasons.

The president noted that the attack had no religious or political colouration and urged all Nigerians to see it as purely a criminal attack and nothing more; even as he assured that the Federal Government will liaise with the state government, to find a lasting solution to the incessant crises.

“We should exercise restraint. The federal government will put heads together with the state government, to find a lasting solution to the crises. The attack has nothing to do with religion but criminality. Benue State, as food basket of the nation, needs a lot of security,” said Dambazau.

Asked during a chat with newsmen why the federal government did not act on early warnings issued in writing by the governor, to the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, the Interior minister, who said he was yet to be briefed, reiterated that the attacks were unacceptable in a civilised society.

“This is a sad period in our nation’s history, but, I assure you that security agencies are doing a lot to contain the situation. We will stop at nothing in fishing out perpetrators of these acts and deal with them,” he stressed and also disclosed that over 5,000 Agro Rangers are already being trained by the federal government to handle incessant herders, farmers clashes.

On his part, Ortom, who had earlier taken the minister and his entourage to the morgue of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH and also, to see wounded victims who were receiving treatment at the hospital, urged president Buhari to match his words with action by directing the immediate arrest of the leadership of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore (MAKH).

Also speaking on the occasion, a former governor of the state and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, George Akume, expressed confidence in president Buhari’s ability to handle the situation.

Senator Akume urged the president not to allow the issue of herdsmen dent his hard-earned image.

For the three lucky winners and other contestants of Lagos Grows Talent, the just concluded talent show organised by the Lagos State government was a memorable event and opportunity of a lifetime.

Kicking off on December 18, 2017, the auditions for the talent show had witnessed thousands of youths trooping out to showcase their talents at five different locations within Lagos State including Victoria Island, Ikeja, Badagry, Epe and Ikorodu.

The auditions, which ended on December 21, saw amazing talents and celebrities like Toyin Abraham, Yomi Fash-Lanso, TY Mix, Sotayo Sobola, Humblesmith, Caroline Danjuma, Aisha Lawal and Alariwo judge the contestants based on creativity and talent. At the end of the day, 10 contestants were chosen from each venue of the audition to perform at different locations of One Lagos Fiesta – an annual event of riveting music and entertainment.

The 10 successful contestants included Epe-based young rapper, Ishola Idris, Dream-Catchers Dancers from Ikorodu, Cashflows Dance duo from Ikorodu, Skeleton, a contortionist from Lagos Island, Torna, a rapper from Lagos Island, DMJ, a dancer from Badagry, Korede, a rapper from Badagry, Nifemi, kid dancer from Ikeja, Ademola, drummer from Ikeja, and Babatunde, a rapper from Epe.

Out of all the contestants, Ishola Idris, Torna, Skeleton, Cashflow and Dream Catchers emerged as top five and were chosen to perform at the grand finale of One Lagos Fiesta held at Eko Atlantic, Victoria Island, Lagos. The show had On-Air-Personality, Olisa Adibua, comedian Tee-A and Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham playing the hosts while actress Eniola Badmus hosted the Agege leg of the concert.

At the end of a tough battle between the final five contestants, 13-year-old rapper, Ishola Idris, beat four others to win the cash prize of N1.5 million. Onyekachi Alexander aka Torna also a rapper, took the second position, smiling home with a cash prize of N1 million while Goualin Vidal aka Skeleton, a contortionist, came third with a cash prize of N.5 million.

Asked how he felt winning the grand prize, Ishola said: “I am very happy that I won. I feel very good, I feel nice. It was a tough competition and I received the money. I will use the money to help my family because we are poor. My parents knew about this and they supported me. I thank Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for this opportunity. He is the best governor.”

Also speaking, Torna, the 1st runner-up, said: “I am very happy right now, I am a boy of the people, I know what my fans want and I will always give them what they want. I believed I was going to be the winner, but God knows why everything happened like this. But I am happy all the way. I thank Governor Ambode for an opportunity to showcase my talent. Lagos Grows Talent is a great platform for people like me who don’t have the means to showcase their talents.

“Governor Ambode is my daddy, I am a proud Lagosian, born in Surulere and I’m always grateful. Lagos has impacted me a lot, as my parents couldn’t afford to pay my school fees. The cash prize is an opportunity for me to further my education. I owe it all to Lagos and Governor Ambode.”

On his part, the 2nd runner-up, Goualin Vidal aka Skeleton, a contortionist, said: “I discovered my talents eight years ago and I feel happy right now even though I didn’t win. I thank Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for this platform; he gave us the opportunity to prove ourselves to the world. I’m sure I deserved this position and I enjoyed myself thoroughly.”

Congratulating the winners, Governor Ambode, said: “I thank everyone for working towards the betterment and growth of Lagos State and I believe we would do more next year. I wish the winners and other contestants the best in 2018, as together; we’ll forge ahead to make Lagos State a better place for all of us. Happy New Year!”

The governor, however, said that N200,000 including consolation prizes would each be given other contestants that made it to the top 10.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, explained that One Lagos Fiesta has discovered not only talents but also provided employment opportunities to several people. “It is a fiesta that has provided direct, indirect and induced jobs to more than 6000 people like musicians, dancers, technicians, stall owners, brand ambassadors, food and beverage sellers as well as security guards and transport services owners,” he said.

Ayorinde further stated that the event was in line with the vision of Governor Ambode in using tourism, arts, culture and entertainment to boost the revenue of the state.

But then, it’s not all about winners of Lagos Grows Talent showcasing their talents, the grand finale of One Lagos Fiesta held at Eko Atlantic also witnessed amazing performances from established artistes like Davido, Wizkid, Olamide, Simi, Adekunle Gold, Ice Prince, and Sound Sultan among others. DJs Jimmy Jatt, Spinall and Enimoney equally thrilled the crowd with electrifying vibes.
