- Ramsey, your marriage appears to have stood the test of time. You have been married for 15 years now. Some of your colleagues have been unlucky in this regard.
RAMSEY: Contrary to a widely held notion, the success of a marriage largely rests on the woman. But these days, a lot of marriages are based on equality. A woman wants to get 50 per cent of whatever she is giving into the marriage back from the man. This has led to the breakdown of many marriages.
From time our mothers used to be the women that held their marriages. They were in charge of the home. Our mothers took charge of everything but today women don’t want that kind of responsibility. Hence, it is affecting marriages.
My wife belongs to the category of “our mothers”. She believes in sustaining our marriage and holding it strong.
So whenever I am asked how we have been able to keep it together, I tell them my wife is the woman who has actually held our home.

- Do you also accord her rightful place in the home?
RAMSEY: She doesn’t have a place because she owns the home. It’s her call however (way) she wants things done. She is the driver of the family and her decision is final. That is why I say she is not an ordinary woman. She is a triple woman.
- Is she comfortable with your romantic and kissing scenes?
RAMSEY: When some people ask me “how does your wife cope when she sees you kissing other women in the movie?” and I tell them that my wife is special.
She is not an ordinary woman. She understands things in a way many other women don’t. That is why I say, an actor or actress, has to find that special person. It is not love that will bond you. Forget love, love dies. What sustains the marriage is companionship. If you cannot find companionship in your partner from the beginning, then you do not have a partner.
Don’t lust after a woman because of her beauty and don’t lust after a guy because he is handsome. You must lust after the companionship that bonds you together. It should be like “for some reasons you cannot do without her; for some reasons there is something about her that brings you home”.
It may be her sense of humour; or the way she keeps the home. Same thing applies for the ladies; there must be something about him that you cannot do without. If this quality is not there, then you don’t have a companion.
- So, you guys have had it smooth sailing in your marriage all the while?
RAMSEY: Don’t get me wrong, don’t think that we don’t have our moments of disagreement. But it depends on the way we handle it. Women cannot stand the heat in the kitchen anymore and they just want to run. That is why marriages are crumbling. A lot people don’t want to work hard anymore, because marriage is hard work. So when you talk about marriages crashing, it’s not my call. The only problem that I have is to make sure I provide food for the family.
- Any counsel for your colleagues who have been unlucky with love and marriage?
RAMSEY: Nobody gives advice when it comes to matters of the heart. People say they are going for counseling and all but at the end, it is what is in their heart is still what they want to do. Because those things in your heart are laced with emotions and emotions are very hard to tackle.
When you have emotion that is full of jealousy, hate or anger, it is hard to break it until you exercise it. That is why when your dad screams ‘do not follow that boy’ the teenager does not listen until she has satisfied what her heart desires from the boy. Most times, you learn by experience.
Companionship is not easy. When everybody is running into marriages as if marriage wants to go out of fashion, take your time and be ready for it. Be ready to accept someone with his flaws. My wife has her problems and I also have mine. A lot of it actually and I know. You m
- Divorce is on the rise. Why do you think this is so?
RAMSEY: When a woman believes she earns more than the man, the man should start doing the work of a woman like sweeping, changing diapers. There is no sense in that. A woman’s place should not change and the same applies to the man. I am not expecting a woman to overwork herself with house chores. I help and support my wife when there is no help in the house. I sweep when I have the time.
- In what ways do you also help out in the home?
RAMSEY: I cooked two days before having this interview. I am a great cook. No woman can do shakara for me oo. I made my stew and rice with smoked chicken. I grew up with my mum and with her, you must know how to sweep and do many other chores.
- Some of your fans cannot picture you doing house chores?
RAMSEY: The thing is that everyone now has the perspective of wanting to live larger than life, forgetting the reality. We keep forgetting that if we don’t do it, who will do it? At some point my wife got tired of house helps. We have three kids at home and we have to fend for them. I cannot leave everything for her, so I help out. Sometimes we tell the kids to wash their plates. At some point I realized that my 12 and 13 years old could not sweep and that was very wrong. So we started forcing them to clean. Most kids of these days cannot sweep or clean. All they want to do is do is make their nails, make their hair and carry big phones and tablets around.
- Are you romantic?
RAMSEY: Don’t judge me by my movie roles. I don’t think I am romantic. My wife does not think I am that romantic either.ust be able to accommodate the other person.
- Many people wonder why you do not step out with your wife on the red carpet?
RAMSEY: My wife and I have an understanding. And this is one of the reasons our marriage is still standing strong. We avoid the public eye because the public has a way of messing up relationships. Sometimes, my wife goes ahead of me into the event, so we don’t do red carpet. It is the same people that harass you for not taking your wife to red carpet event that will sit back and point fingers at how you both look.
- Some say you don’t take your wife to red carpet event because she is not beautiful?
RAMSEY: That is what they think. My wife is very cute. May be because my wife is not loud or flashy when it comes to make-up or wearing long weaves. She is very natural and she knows that I love her natural looks.

A cross section of Nigerians have continued to comment on the pictures of President Muhammadu Buhari, who is currently on a 10-day working leave in London, UK.
The new picture, which was posted on Friday night, showed the president in a relaxed mood with some of his visitors, including Gov. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun.

US mute on whether Atiku Abubakar is wanted or not
The U.S. government was reportedly responding to an inquiry on whether Atiku Abubakar was wanted in, or barred from entering, the U.S.
“U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is prohibited by law from releasing such information without the written legal consent of the individual about whom you are asking these questions,” Julie, a Senior Public Information Officer at U.S. CBP said in an email response.
The agency declined to provide Julie’s surname, citing “security concerns”.
The former Vice President’s U.S. immigration status was, once again, the subject of debate following a spat with Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State last November.
el-Rufai had dared Abubakar to travel to the US, suggesting he was wanted for alleged corruption.
The governor was reacting to an interview Abubakar granted to Zero Tolerance magazine, published by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), where he allegedly accused el-Rufai of betrayal after bringing him into government.
According to the magazine, when asked about claims by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, that there is still a valid travel restriction on him to the US, the former Vice Prsident said he had been to the country on several occasions before the relocation of his family.
“The reason why I always visited the US was because of my wife,” Mr. Abubakar, who was vice president between 1999 and 2007, said. “She is no more in the US. So I don’t have compelling reason to visit the US now.”
But el-Rufai accused Abubakar of corruption saying the former vice president stayed away from the US for fear of being arrested.
“Can Alhaji Atiku explain the findings in the report of the United States Permanent Sub-Committee on Investigations which detailed a pattern of wire transfers of more than USD 40 million from offshore companies like Siemens into bank accounts controlled by him and one of his wives,” the governor said in a statement he issued after Mr. Abubakar’s interview.
“The report detailing the US Senate findings is online, as one of four case histories of foreign corruption in the USA. Alhaji Atiku should tell a better tale of why he is avoiding the United States of America.
“Someone as obsessed with Nigeria’s presidency as he is, should clear up such matters conclusively. We wait to see how well he does with that.”
Last November, the US Department of Justice told Nigeria’s The Punch newspaper that it did not have any record showing that Mr. Abubakar had a pending lawsuit in the US
Asked whether Mr. Abubakar’s records should not be accessible to the Nigerian public since he had held – and is possibly planning to hold – public office, the US Customs and Border Protection replied: “According to US law, CBP cannot release such records without his (Mr. Abubakar’s) legal authorization.”
PREMIUM TIMES asked Paul Ibe, Mr. Abubakar’s spokesperson, if his principal would be willing to give his consent for the release of his immigration status as stated by the U.S. government agency, and he said he would refer the question to the former vice president.
Efforts to get a response from Mr. Ibe after two weeks were unsuccessful as he failed to answer his calls or reply messages.

According to the report, over 50 policemen where sighted at the premises of the DSS this morning waiting for the arrival of Apostle Suleiman.
The DSS action might have been prompted by calls from various quarters urging the cleric to honour the invitation without thousands of his church members.
There were also concerns that if Apostle Suleman is detained, might turn rowdy or violent at the DSS premises.
Over the weekend, Apostle Suleman had cancelled an event he is billed for at the University of Abuja due to his present travails.

The group had called on President Buhari to carry out policies that will affect the lives of people in the Niger Delta region positively but in its latest statement accused him of shunning dialogue.
In a statement it made available, on Monday, the group said it has been patient but it looks like the president is ready to do their bidding.

Apostle Suleiman: What does the Quran teach about self defence?
This pronouncement went viral on social media and has been termed by many as inciting, unBiblical and deserving of reprimand by the Nigerian authorities.
He did not order Christians to kill Muslims.
He couldn’t have, when he was born a Muslim himself and yet has a sizeable number of Muslims as relations.
He couldn’t have, when the headquaters of his church is located in Auchi, a town in the Nothern region of Edo state with a large Muslim population, where in fact Christians and their Muslim neighbours have co-existed peacefully for decades.
A few days later, officers of the Department of State Security (DSS) trailed him to his hotel room in Ekiti state, where he was conducting an open-air crusade, perhaps with the intention of taking him into custody to account for his pronouncements, a move that was botched by Ayo Fayose, the governor of the state, who stormed the hotel premises with a crowd at about 1.00am that night, in response to a distress call from the Preacher.
In recent times, Fulani herdsmen have disregarded the sanctity of life and the dictates of the Nigerian constitution by invading communities and killing the inhabitants therein wantonly under the guise of grazing their cattles.
Up until this moment, not a single person has been prosecuted for homicide, with not a few murdered in cold blood and many becoming orphans, widows and widowers almost on regular basis.
THE POSITION OF THE LAW
Sections 306, 307 and 316 of the Criminal Code address the subject of Homicide in relation to the subject matter expressly.
Black’s Law Dictionary defines homicide as the killing of one person by another and criminal homicide as the act of purposely, knowingly, recklessly or negligently causing the death of another human being
The law pursuant to S.319 of the Criminal Code prescribes the death penalty as punishment for homicide
LAWFUL HOMICIDE
A lawful homicide is a killing that is authorized or justified or excused by law. As a result, it is not every killing of a human being that is considered to be unlawful. It is only when homicide occurs under such circumstances as the law seeks to prevent that it is said to be unlawful.
n effect, homicide is considered lawful in the following circumstances; Execution of sentence, SELF-DEFENCE, DEFENCE OF PROPERTY, death by misadventure, death arising from lawful arrest or while preventing escape or during rescue after arrest, death caused during a suppression of riot
UNLAWFUL HOMICIDE
Unlawful homicide is a killing that occurs under the circumstances which the law seeks to prevent, and these circumstances may be murder, manslaughter, suicide or infanticide.
Without much ado, the killings by Fulani herdsmen fall under unlawful homicide, while the law recognises the place of killing an aggressor in SELF-DEFENSE as a prelude to self-presrvation.
THE POSITION OF RELIGION
Fulani herdsmen are predominantly Muslims, while Apostle Johnson Suleiman is a Christian, in deed a Christian religious leader. Both parties are thus expected to relate within the context of their religions per time, upon which the public judge their acts thus far.
What does the Quran teach about self defence?
THE QUARAN
QUARAN Chapter 2:190- 193
[190] You may fight in the cause of GOD against those who attack you, but do not aggress. GOD does not love the aggressors.
[191] You may kill those who wage war against you, and you may evict them whence they evicted you. Oppression is worse than murder. Do not fight them at the Sacred Masjid, unless they attack you therein. If they attack you, you may kill them. This is the just retribution for those disbelievers.
[192] If they refrain, then GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
[193] You may also fight them to eliminate oppression, and to worship GOD freely. If they refrain, you shall not aggress; aggression is permitted only against the aggressors.
From the above, the Quaran does not encourage Muslims to be aggressors, but to stand in self defence and kill the AGGRESSORS if it be so necessary in their quest for self preservation . The Fulani herdsmen who attack innocent communities (without initial aggression from the communities) therefore run foul of Quaranic injuctions and cannot situate their actions on Islam, but on sheer criminality.
Now, what does the Bible teach about self- defence?
THE BIBLE
In Matthew 5:38-39, Jesus said; “Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
Matthew 26:52: Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
2 Corinthians 10 : 4: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.
Romans 12:16-21
[16] Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
[17] Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
[18] If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
From the above Biblical points, Christianity does not encourage its faithfuls to kill in self-defence. Any Christian who so does therefore is not acting in line with Biblical injunctions.
THE POSITION OF COMMON-SENSE
The Nigerian Criminal code recognises that a citizen can kill another in self-defense, so long as he’s not the aggressor, classifying it thereof as “lawful homicide”.
In Islam, the Quaran gives credence to the same position as advanced by the Nigerian criminal code.
However, in Christianity, the Bible canvasses the contrary, for vengeance “is of the Lord” and the weapons of the Christian’s warfare “are not carnal”.
If a Muslim thus kills his aggressors in self-defense, he has not gone against his religion, and certainly not against the Nigerian laws.
If a Christian however kills his aggressors in self defense, he has gone against his religion, but not against the Nigerian laws.
In sane societies, he that kills his fellow man is arrested, arraigned and sentenced accordingly to serve as a deterrent to others.
This however cannot be said to be the case in Nigeria, where scores are murdered by Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haramists yet not a single person has been prosecuted hitherto. In fact, those arrested were “counselled”, “de- radicallised” and released back to society to go and ‘sin no more’, in the spirit of “amnesty”!
Is there thus wisdom in Nigerian Christians turning the other cheeks whenever they’re attacked, in line with Biblical injunction in times like this, in a society such as this?
Or, is it wisdom for them to look beyond the ‘dissenting’ Scriptures for now, conjuring other scriptural juxtapositions akin to David killing Goliath, upholding their constitutional right to self-preservation thereby and later deciding to obey the “other-cheek” Biblical injunction, when sanity returns to the antithetical Nigerian polity, where logic stands on its head?

FIFA rankings: Eagles among world’s top 50 teams
According to the January rankings as published on FIFA website on Thursday, Nigeria are starting the year 2017 moving up one spot as the 50th placed team in the world by displacing Burkina Faso who went down three spots.
The Super Eagles garnered 619 points as against 616 it had in December 2016.
The move had placed the team as the 7th team in Africa behind Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and DR Congo respectively.
On the global scene, the top 34 positions remain unchanged with Argentina, Brazil and Germany still holding first, second and third place, respectively.
With only 12 Grade A matches played since the final rankings in 2016, there were few big changes in the January edition of the ranking.
But in spite of the overall stability of the January table, two new teams had broken into the Top 50, Saudi Arabia (48, up 6) and Nigeria (50, up 1),
They moved up at the expense of Albania (51, down 2) and Burkina Faso (53,
With the biggest move by both points and rankings, Suriname (128, up 22) are January’s best performer.
In spite of their recent improvement, the CONCACAF team is still some distance from its best ever position (84), recorded back in 2008.
The small Southern African nation of Swaziland, meanwhile, reached its best ever position in the World Rankings (99, up 1).
The next FIFA World rankings would be published on February 9.
Many feared killed as fresh blast hits Adamawa
Witnesses said the blast occurred near a checkpoint at the entrance of the town.
“We heard three blasts near the checkpoint where people gathered to be screened before entering the town as you know today is market day,” a witness said.
“The suicide bombers blew themselves up alongside the two vigilante members that approached them.”
Adamu Kamale, member representing Madagali/Michika federal constituency, said he got the report but the information showed that there was no death.
“Information available to me showed that there was no death in the blast, except that some people sustained injuries,” Kamale said.
He called for more deployment of troops to comb the Madagali axis of Sambisa, which he said was still habouring insurgents.
When contacted, Yusuf Mohammed, chairman of Madagali, also confirmed the incident but said he could not give details because he was not in town.
“I was outside the town for an official engagement but I was called and informed about the incident. That is all I can tell you for now,” Mohammed said.
On January 4, three female suicide bombers, who were on their way to Gulak market in Madagali, were intercepted by the vigilante.
